My grandmother’s sister, Ana Schlund (daughter of Anton Schlund and his
wife Katherine or Catherine MNU) who was born in Dinkelsbühl,
Mittelfranken, Bavaria, Germany before 1880, married Hans Kliegl who was
the partner of Kliegl Brothers; the company that invented and marketed
the Klieg light for stage and motion picture lighting.
Ana had at least two siblings: my grandmother Augusta, b. 1880; and
Rosa, b. before 1880. All three were, to the best of my knowledge, born
in Dinkelsbühl, Mittelfranken, Bavaria. Ana and Augusta immigrated to
New York City in 1895. Rosa remained in Germany.
Hans and Ana married in New York City. They lived in New York City on
Central Park West at the time of their deaths. The couple had three
children Alfred b. abt. 1900 in New York, Herbert b. abt. 1904 in New
York and Ann b. abt. 1908 in New York. Ann married Radm. James Byrnes or
Byrne, USN, Retired.
I hope to trace any surviving members of this family in order to learn
more about the genealogy of the Schlund family.
